Have been exploring various version of visualizing my life — curious to know what you think the benefit or value of creating something like this might be? For reminding yourself what your life used to be like? For jogging memories about yourself at different times?
I mainly use it as a means of introspection. Helping to answer questions like: what ups and downs have shaped you? How has one event or set of events impacted the other (maybe patterns emerge)? Did certain events come out of the blue, or were they because of (unknown) effects earlier in life? Could those effects still be present, and if yes, in what way?
I also have a version of this that is not linear but looks at it more as a mindmap (so you can cluster people, interests, jobs, etc., and see emerging patterns that way).
